Pikachu is a Lightning-type Pokémon with 50 HP, featuring a retreat cost of one Colorless energy. It belongs to the Base series, released as part of the Wizards Black Star Promos set in July 1999, and carries a Promo rarity. The card’s flavor text describes how groups of these Pokémon generate enough electricity to summon lightning. Pikachu has no resistances and is weak to Fighting-type attacks with double damage. Its two attacks include Recharge, which costs one Lightning energy to search the deck for a Lightning Energy card and attach it to Pikachu before shuffling the deck, and Thunderbolt, a powerful move requiring three Lightning energy to deal 50 damage while discarding all attached Energy cards. The card’s themecolor is a warm golden hue, and it is illustrated by artist Ken Sugimori. This version of Pikachu does not include any abilities beyond its listed attacks and retreat cost.
