#7 Luxray - Diamond & Pearl (dp1)
Luxray is a Pokémon with 120 HP, classified as a Lightning-type, and requires one Colorless energy to retreat. It features a Poké-Power ability called Gleam Eyes, which allows the player to look at their opponent’s hand once during their turn when evolving Luxray from their hand. If the opponent’s Bench isn’t full, the player can select a Basic Pokémon from their hand and place it on the Bench, then switch it with the Defending Pokémon. Luxray’s primary attack, Lightning Star, costs four Lightning energy and deals 80 damage, moving all attached Lightning energy to a Benched Pokémon if available. The card resists Metal-type attacks by 20 and is weak to Fighting-type attacks, which deal 30 more damage. It was released in the Diamond & Pearl series in May 2007 as a Rare Holo card. The card’s flavor text describes Luxray as having eyes capable of seeing through obstacles to detect and capture hidden prey. Artist Mikiko Takeda designed the card, which is numbered 7 in its set.
