Metapod is a Grass-type Pokémon with 70 HP. It features two attacks: Harden and Hatch. Harden costs two Colorless Energy and prevents damage done to Metapod during the opponent's next turn, provided the damage is 20 or less after applying Weakness and Resistance. Hatch requires two Grass Energy, allowing the player to flip a coin, remove all damage counters from Metapod, and search their deck for a card that evolves from Metapod to attach to it, effectively evolving the Pokémon. This ability also shuffles the deck afterward. Metapod has no weaknesses to Fire, but it is weak to Fire with a ×2 multiplier. The card's retreat cost is two Colorless Energy. It was illustrated by Sumiyoshi Kizuki and is part of the Neo Discovery set, released in June 2001. The flavor text describes Metapod as a soft, weak creature inside its shell, preparing to evolve.
